Rent your own private island
A global trend has caught fire that offers outdoor enthusiasts an upgrade on rest and recreation. It’s called glamping, a new word for a new kind of travel, defined as glamorous camping. When you’re glamping, there’s no tent to pitch, no sleeping bag to unroll, no fire to build. Whether in a tent, yurt, airstream, pod, igloo, hut, villa, cabin, cube, teepee or treehouse, glamping is a way to experience the great outdoors without sacrificing luxury. – Glamping.com
Whether or not you are first time glampers, seasoned nature enthusiasts, or a fun couple looking for a new experience, we hope that you will come join us on Little Raccoon Key to enjoy some rest and relaxation. While glamping on Little Raccoon Key, you will likely see Dolphins, many species of birds, and a variety of plant life on the island. You will also have the opportunity to watch the sunrise over the Golden Isles with a cup of coffee or tea in hand, relax in a hammock while reading a book, or get some sun in our loungers. We only accommodate 1 overnight reservation at a time, so you can be assured that you will be the only one on the private island each night. Little Raccoon Key is only 10 minutes away from Jekyll Island, so you will still likely have cellular service should you need to reach out to the Little Raccoon Key staff during your stay.Book Now
Amenities Included with Your Stay
Ancient Oyster Reef Lesson
We will teach you about ancient oyster reefs that are a beautiful part of the island. These oysters are a very important part of the island’s ecosystem (and they are also very sharp), so please be wary when walking around the oysters. We suggest that you wear boots when walking around the oyster reefs to be on the safe side!
“River of Dolphins” Boat Ride
Your LRK experience will include an onboard marine history and biology tour to and from the island. Little Raccoon Key is about a 10 minute boat ride from Jekyll Island, and it is a beautiful ride. During this trip, you can see St. Simons Island, Jekyll Island, Cumberland Island, & the gorgeous Sidney Lanier Bridge. The waters between Little Raccoon Key and Jekyll Island are teeming with wildlife, and it is common to see large pods of dolphin swimming by the island or pelicans diving into the water to catch fish. Be sure to have your camera ready!
Groceries Upon Request
Harris Teeter (located on St. Simons Island) offers online ordering and pickup services. Upon Request, we will have these delivered to the boat before your departure; however, please let us know if you plan to utilize these services so that we can make the necessary arrangements. If you plan to pick up your own groceries before arriving, Winn-Dixie Grocery is conveniently located a few miles before you turn onto the Jekyll Island Causeway (6.3 miles if you are approaching from the South and 4.4 miles if you are approaching from the North).
Chef Prepared Meals per Request
Although we provide dishes, pans, and a stove to cook, sometimes special occasions call for special accommodations! If you would like to have a chef prepared meal, please reach out to us when you book, so that we can make the arrangements to surpass your expectations.
A gas grill is provided, so that you can cook your meals while on the island. You can also utilize this grill to warm up your coffee and tea kettle. Propane tanks are provided.
Cooler w/ Ice
Although we will provide a cooler for fresh ice, we recommend that you bring a cooler for your food.
Once you arrive on the island, your accommodations will include a 26 X 15 foot Luxury Canvas Tent. This tent is all-weather-proof, so you don’t have to worry about getting wet if an afternoon shower comes in from the ocean! This tent is hand sewn and created by Davis Tent Company (a family-owned luxury tent provider in Colorado). These tents are rated for weather much worse than we typically see in Southeast Georgia, so you can be sure that the tent is a safe environment for you during your stay.
Memory Foam Bed and Designer Sheets
Ditch the sleeping bags for our comfortable memory foam mattress and fresh designer sheets. We will accommodate the appropriate linens for the weather (cooler sheets in the Spring/Summer & warmer sheets in the Fall/Winter).
